The name of the weapon was "Single Shot Phantom Musket". The weapon was designed by ~build-the-impossible[link]
Here are the blueprints and technical description.
The character description I got was:
This gentleman has an aura of insanity about him. His build is noteably athletic. He has neck-length, straight, amber hair with a ponytail. His slitted eyes are the color of ripe tangerines.
This is Ranek Atagoa, a rather unstable and very cunning steampunk space pirate.
Here's how he got the weapon: (designed and written by
Some months ago, a preliminary blueprint for the "Phantom" musket, very similar to the one depicted here, was stored on a data tablet that Ranek acquired through relatively illegitimate means. The file was heavily encrypted, which drew Ranek's attention like plasma draws space-sharks. After several days of calls and meetings with various personal contacts, Ranek located a Mangotronics employee who was able to decrypt the file and explain the function of the "Phantom" musket. Having been shot a number of times in duels with wealthy nobles and their security forces, Ranek decided that a "Phantom" musket was exactly what he needed. Of course, he could not stand having a weapon as bland as the one in the original blueprint, so he modified it, creating the external design shown in this image.
Ranek was able to procure the external casing of the weapon quite easily, from the same dealer who supplies most of his wardrobe and other personal effects. Acquiring the internal components, though, proved to be far more difficult, as a number of them were still in development and had not been released for sale. To get these components, Ranek contacted Mangotronics, posing as an influential government bureaucrat interested in purchasing the relevant components for a starship engine filter. With a bit of inside influence, Ranek was able to get the deal approved. Instead of having the parts delivered to him, though, he chose the flashier option of picking them up personally. Then, while still inside the Revolugen building, he installed the parts into his customized frame, and before the guards could reach him, he shot out the "Mangotronics" on the building and rode off. When Mangotronics's CEO was informed of Ranek's actions, he commented, "Let him keep the thing. Technically, he did pay for it, and...I like his style."
